Cruise - Day 3: Key West

Day 3 of our cruise we were headed for a day in Key West, FL. I had been to Key West before but Derek had never been there. I was excited to make some new memories with him!
Key West had the latest arrive time of all our 3 ports. We were able to take the morning a bit slow which is great when you're on vacation!
We ate most of our meals from this area. It was always quiet and had the best views! This is arriving in Key West.

I was texting with mom this morning since we had cell service again! Our good morning picture for the boys!

Before we left for our cruise we bought one excursion from Carnival and it was in Key West. We picked a tour of Key West on beach cruisers. It was so much fun!  Our tour guide took us all over the island stopping at many famous Key West attractions.

Derek and I in front of the southernmost house. Beach selfie!

After our bike ride around the island we stopped for some lunch at Caroline's Cafe on Duval St. The food was great! I had the fish sandwich and it was HUGE. I cut the fish in half and it was still too big - but it was so good and I was on vacation. Calories don't count of vacation right?! :)
After lunch we headed to the birthplace of Key Lime Pie. You have to when you're in Key West right?! Derek got the pie on a stick dipped in chocolate. We sat on the little bench outside the store for him to eat his pie and ended up sitting there for more than an hour. We just talked, people watched and relaxed. Perfection.

Before we headed back to the ship we souvenir shopped for the folks watching our living creatures ;)

That evening we had a pretty relaxed time on the ship. We grabbed dinner and watched a comedy show. Ready for the Bahamas tomorrow!

Cruise Day 1 & 2

The end of January got really busy as I prepared to go one my first cruise! Derek was awarded "Top Preformer" award at work and when you are awared that honor you get to go on the company cruise. So Derek and I got to go on a free 7 day cruise to Key West and the Bahamas! The boys stayed with mom and dad for a week. I'm pretty sure they feel like they were given an upgrade and were on vacation too!

Our cruise didn't start until 4 pm on Sunday. Our boarding time was at 2. So we woke up early and drove down to Galveston that morning. When we arrived in Galveston it was pretty much our boarding time. So we parked the car and headed right to the terminal. After a lot of waiting in line we were on the ship! Of course I knew that cruise ships were big but until you are actually inside of one I don't think you're actually prepared for just how massive it is. We spent the entire afternoon and evening walking around and exploring the ship.

It's hard to see but those are dolphins swimming around the ship. I thought this was amazing!

Bon Voyage!

The next morning we took the opportunity to sleep in! This is not a luxury I get at home during normal life so I was determined to make the most of it during this trip! After breakfast and more exploring I went for a jog. When will I have this view again during a run??!!

A storm was coming in and I did get rained on but still the most beautiful scenery I've ever had during a run!

Monday night was our first formal night. It was so fun to get super dressed up for dinner. Derek and I don't take many opportunities for date nights and when we do we defiantly don't get this dressed up!

After dinner we went to a comedy show. Then it was bed time - we had to be up in the morning for Key West!
